FRIDAY. HEAVY ROTATION

MOSCA. EVA MENDES EP.
Mosca blends so fluidly elements of deep house and garage, it's no wonder his latest release is on Hypercolour, a label where Huxley and Maya Jane Coles have cemented the sound of 2012; funky, deep cuts.  Eva Mendes hooks it's way inside your brain in a similar way to Bax  The EP is complete with Accidently, a throbbing deep-house number featuring fantastic soulful vocal from Robert Owens and the blissed-out shuffle, Murderous.  This is another must-have from Mosca.  Out now.

Also really digging this Subb-an remix of Noir & Haze's Around.  Out July 9th (Defected)

And Maya Jane Cole's ultra stripped back remix of Little Dragon's excellent Ritual single.  I love how she picks apart certain elements of the original and brings them to the forefront, such as the slightly cold, unnerving bass-line.  Ultra atmospheric and chilled.

I've been away.

I went on holiday to Bulgaria, which has a killer drink called Rakia, kind of like Brandy.  You drink it with a glass of water or lemonade; it's addictive and gets you smashed.  Bulgaria is weird, kind of western, kind of cheesy, but beautiful, and the people are lovely.  I've been away from computer's, watching the Euro's, working, reading and listening to old stuff in my car, not a lot of new.
This new track from Tony Blitz, one quarter of the DJ/production outfit C.R.S.T has caught my attention though.  It's got a soul snippet vocal, a lovely 4/4 with a twist of bass n' step.  Hope it gets released.

Eats Everything.  An incredible producer doing special things all the time (check out the Jagged Elbow EP out now) has offered up this FREE DOWNLOAD.  It's a re-work of a 2011 track from Switch featuring the incredible vocals of Andrea Martin.  Incredible goosebump inducing stuff.  Check out the original BBC Radio 1 essential mix that Eat's did, where this track first appeared.  It's a killer.

JUSTIN MARTIN

Ghetto's and Garden's (dirtybird) is officially amazing.  A full-length album worth listening to, all the way through; the soundtrack to your summer.  The way Martin combines twee little harmonies and melodies, with bad-ass booty bass is killer.  The sheer range of styles is so refreshing; from the excellent dub-step n' string infused remix of Goldie's classic Kemistry, to the classic hip-hop sound of Lezgo VIP, to the deep-funk vibes of The Gurner, a collab with ultra-cool VisionQuest dudes PillowTalk.

This cool bundle complete with 40oz liquor bag, only available in America.  Damn!

NEW EATS EVERYTHING

JAGGED ELBOW EP.  (PETS)

'Entrance Song' was last years breakthrough track from Bristolian Eats Everything, aka Daniel Pearce.  It also went a long way to sum up the sound of 2011 as a whole; 90s throwback vibes, deep and tunnelling house and pummelling bass to shake your speakers.  He has had solid releases on the brilliant Dirtybird label and a series of excellent remixes, notably his deep rework of Huxley's 'Let it Go'.  This is his follow up for the Catz and Dogz label PETS Recordings, notable for being his first release on the label since 'Entrance Song' and the first track instantly feels quite similar, and not far off from Huxley's style of house either; heavily distorted and chopped vocals, a huge dollop of a bass-line, and a quality dose of Detroit 4/4.
The second track is all of Eats Everything, a reverberating bass and massive hi-hats that cement a classic, stripped house sound.  But wait, this breaks down; atmospheric drones, mechanised d n' b breaks, a heavy old-skool snare.  The track just completely breaks down and chills the fuck out, then brings it back deeper!  Wow.
Out 28th May.

JUSTIN MARTIN. DIRTYBIRD US

22/05/2012.  The release date of 'Ghetto's & Garden's' from San Fran label Dirtybird's most exciting producer, Justin Martin.  He has tantalised with the dubstep infused 'Ghetto's & Garden's' and his latest release has only wet the appetite further.  'Don't Go' is a sugary, sweet, melodic house number that sticks like glue.  Adorable.

The album is going to be Dirtybird's biggest release to date, with 2012 already a great year for label owner Claude VonStroke who has a string of great releases under his belt such as Shadow Child's  'Shadow Chill' EP, OUT NOW, which fuses spacious, garage-infused beats with intricate house sensibilities.

REAL BITCH ALL DAY, UPTOWN, BROADWAY

JUMANJI Prod. By HUDSON MOHAWKE & NICK HOOK

Whilst Azealia Banks fans wait, and wait for the heavily delayed '1991' EP,  Banks has dropped a free download from her 'fantastic mixtape for the summer' due soon.  She kills it, obviously.
Her flow here is Missy-esque, the beats are organic and bouncing.  There are steel drums.  Hyped.
Album due in the autumn, 'Broke with Expensive Taste'.

Hoover's, rave-piano's, footwork, acid, bass.  What else do you need?  Houston producer Whee-zie covers all bases here, in some style.  This EP is set to drop 14/05/12.  Here's a taster of what it has to offer.
